Since its creation, R&D Commission and Council has worked non-stop to defend the interest of staff and as well, to offer a whole series of services and training, most of them free of charge. Now, all of R&D‘s work has been publicly recognised by US-Council who, in a tract published on 30 April 2010, have handsomely praised all this work.  R&D is very pleased by the recognition given by US since that could only encourage them to support the positions our union takes when it comes to defending staff and the European Civil Service more effectively.

“An extremely good value top-up insurance policy”

It is using these very kind words that our union adversaries have described the insurance product negotiated by R&D Commission and Council in 2008 with our insurance brokers EAS Assurances (R&D‘s brokers). R&D did not need to guarantee 24,000 subscriber-members to negotiate truly advantageous conditions for staff   in getting top-up reimbursements for health costs for Civil Servants and other staff of the European Civil Service.

“Extra value for staff”

EAS Assurances created and offered a top-up health insurance policy for the RCAM regime (EU employees’ health insurance scheme). This policy is particularly good value and the contract for it was signed at the end of 2008. This insurance policy covers all reimbursements (costs for hospitalisation, medical care, prescriptions, dental and ophthalmological work) at a price of one-third of the other top-up insurance policies associated with the RCAM. You can find more details at (/our-services/insurances-service/rcam_en/).

R&D recognised for open-mindedness, style and effectiveness”

R&D negotiated this top-up health insurance policy with the objective of launching it initially to members of R&D, and later to open it up to all staff. Having seen excellent results, the moment to open it up has arrived. R&D is of course keeping the weekly advice desk for its members.

R&D an example to follow …”

In any case, many thanks to US for recognising the quality of services offered by R&D. It’s never too late to do some good. On the other hand, R&D won’t be publicising the training for competitive examinations offered by US, who not only require you to be a member but make you pay very heavily for both the training and the programmes. R&D offers training and programme materials free of charge to all whether internal or external to the Commission (priority of course to members)..
