Japan – missions advice for staff
Published on 14/03/2011
In the light of the emergency/crisis situation unfolding in Japan, DG HR’s Security Directorate recommends that all non-essential missions to Japan should be deferred until further notice. This comes after the north of Honshu, the main island of Japan, was severely hit on 11 March 2011 by a magnitude 9.0 (Richter scale) earthquake and subsequent tsunami, and given the uncertainties about possible risks related to damage reported in four nuclear power plants (Fukushima Daiichi, Onagawa, Fukushima Daini and Tokai).
